One hundred years after its first performance, the Esterhazy Singers celebrated the centenary of Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil with a special performance of the much-loved work in the beautiful surroundings of St Andrew’s Church in Holborn. This masterpiece was sung in the original language with soloists from the choir. Arguably one of the finest works ever written for unaccompanied choir, the piece set texts taken from the Russian Orthodox All-night vigil ceremony and has been praised as Rachmaninov’s greatest musical achievement.
